It's really depressing when it comes to famous people ending up on the wrong of the tabloid. This ranges from situation to situation. However, the cases of Dani Alves and Robinho is a whole different matter. Unfortunately, they have been caught doing excessive and forcible adult actions on females. This is such a pity as they both hold high accolades in their career.
Dani Alves was a right back who had a glittering career that spanned 22 years (domestically) and 12 years internationally and winning 126 caps in the process. He has a spectacular CV. He had represented some of the biggest clubs in Europe. This includes: Sevilla; Barcelona; Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
His trophy cabinet is glittering with gold. Domestically, this includes: 5 Copa Del Rey's (Spanish cup); 6 La Liga's (Spanish league); 1 Serie A title (Italian league); 1 Coppa Italia (Itaian cup); 2 Ligue 1's (French league); 1 Coup de France (French cup); 3 Champions Leagues and 3 Club World Cups. Internationally, he has won 2 Confederation Cups; Copa Americas (South American intercontinental tournnament) and a gold medal in the 2020 Olympics.
All this came to nought last year. He was arrested for excessive adult behaviour. This incident occured in a nightclub in 2022. Alves hasn't been consistent with his side of the story. He has told five different versions. His trial lasted for three days. His trial took place under new Spanish crime law (est. 2022). In February of this year, he was found guilty and sentenced to four and-a-half years in prison. He was ordered to pay 150 000 Euros in damages. Last week, he was released on a 1 000 000 Euro bail and ordered to surrender his Spanish and Brazillian passports.
It's unfortunate that Robinho's career isn't as stellar as Dani Alves had. The player has been part of many clubs. The most prominent were Real Madrid, Manchester City, AC Milan and Santos. It's funny that when joining City, he thought he was joining Chelsea.
His criminality began all the back to 2017. He, along with five other men, were convicted of gang related adult actions on a 22 year old female. At the time of the conviction, he was in Brazil and under their law, no citizen could be extradited.
In 2020, his sentence was upheld by the Italian courts. Two years later, in 2022, the highest Italian court, Supreme Court of Cassation, upheld the decision. Italy made a request to Brazil for extradition. This was denied.
In 2023, after a change in the migration law in 2017, Brazillian citizens could serve prison time for crimes committed abroad. In February of last year, Superior Court of Justice (STJ) subpoenaed Robinho and in March, Brazilian prosecutors agreed with the Italian government's request. Additionally, the court confiscated his passport. Fast forward to last week and the Brizillian court upheld the prison sentence. Hence, he will serve nine years in prison.
The point of all this is that athletes of various sports involvement believe that they can do anything to their heart's content. This is not true. They are as mortal as you and I. They are not immune to anything. Fame and fortune is not an excuse. Yes, there are times, people try to take advantage of the famous but actions like these hardly call out fabrications and false accusations. No one should be forced to do anything they don't want to do. NO MEANS NO!
